15th Night Back to School BBQs

The Back to School BBQ is the Youth Action Council’s biggest event of the year and provides youth with a fun opportunity to reconnect to school and prepare for the upcoming year. This year we are so excited to be able to host TWO Back to School BBQ events – one in Springfield on August 25th, and one in Eugene on August 26th.

The Youth Action Council has been out pounding the pavement each week during the summer to build new relationships with youth and encourage them to engage in resources and services. All of these summer outreach efforts lead up to the Back to School BBQ events, where the main goal is to help youth reconnect to school. The way we see it, if we can keep youth connected to their school communities and remove barriers to them accessing the services and resources that they need to thrive, we can start to reduce the number of young people who are ending up on to the streets.

The Back to School BBQ is a big lift for the Youth Action Council and the 15th Night crew. We couldn’t pull off these events without the help of our amazing community, and with two events this year we are looking for a little extra support. Additionally, below is a list of items that we need for raffle prizes, because nothing brings kids to an event like the opportunity to win a skateboard.
